There is very little information about William and what happened to him, or about his family.
His service number shows that he was reasonably local, and there are records that show the family lived at 121 Dukes Road, St. Mary’s and at 50 New Road, Northam.
William was probably the oldest of 6 known siblings born to William and Louisa Harvey (nee Farmer), who married in Southampton in 1889.
William Snr. was born in Dorset in 1859 and it is not known when he died.
Louisa was born in Botley in 1867 and she passed away in Southampton in 1926.
Records show that William Edward was married to a Kathleen, but it has proved impossible to track down any information about this partnership.

There is no information on the SS Oak; it must be assumed that William either met with an accident or died from an illness whilst the vessel was based around Eire.
