Lemuel was the seventh of 8 siblings born to Abel and Mary Jeffries (nee Bessant), who married in Shirley on 13 July 1873.
Abel was born in Southampton on 18 July 1853 and he died in the city in 1929.
Mary was born in Ashurst in 1848 and she passed away in the city in 1931.

Lemuel was a crew member on HMS Attentive II but was lent to P.17, which was one of 44 patrol boats….P.17 was launched in 1916.
All that is known about Lemuel’s demise is that he died from “accidental injuries”.
