Life before the War
John was born in 1879 Southampton.
In 1903 John married Eleanor Culley in Southampton. Eleanor was born in 1881 in Battersea, London. They had 2 children, a daughter Eleanor Maud born 1905, and a son Alfred John born 1907.
In the 1911 census John was living with his wife and children at 43 Amoy Street, Bedford Place, Southampton. He was employed as a Postman. At the time of his death 6 years later the family address was 32 Lyon Street, Southampton.
War Service
John enlisted in Southampton. He was killed in action in France and is remembered with honour at the Roeux British Cemetery, France.
He was entitled to the British Service and Victory Medals.
