Life before the War
Henry was born in 1871 in Southampton and married Kate Barton in 1893 Southampton. Kate was born in 1875 in Southampton. They had 2 daughters:

Henry with his wife Kate and children were living at 13, Highlands Terrace, Itchen, Southampton, in 1901. Henry was employed as a Ship’s Fireman on the Seas.
After her husband’s death, Kate married Charles Taylor in 1917.

S.S. “Arcadian”
Originally a passenger liner, “Arcadian” was brought into military service at the start of the war as a troop ship. She was sunk 26 miles off the Greek island of Milos by the German submarine UC – 74 on 15th April 1917 whilst on route from Salonika to Alexandria with the loss of 279 lives, 35 of which were crew.
