Harry was the youngest of 3 siblings born to James and Emma Sarah Hurlock (nee Reid), who married in Alton in 1880.
Emma had a daughter from a previous relationship, so the siblings had a half-sister.
Emma was born in Alton in 1854 and she passed away there on 19 February 1901.
James had been born in Barnham, near Chichester, in 1864 and he married Sarah Ann North in Alton in 1902.
He died in Eton in 1934.

Frances Emma b. 1884 Alton d. 1966 Eton Married Frederick Robert Dace in Eton in 1904.

Harry married Rose Elizabeth Gare in Essex in 1915, and the couple had a son….

Harry can only have known his son for the briefest of times. The family had a home at 33 Testwood Road, Millbrook.
After Harry’s death, Rose married Ernest W. King in Southampton in 1921. She passed away in the city in 1975.
Harry crewed on the British E-Class submarine E.30, commissioned in November 1915. He had enlisted on 8 April 1908 and joined E.30 on 6 September 1916.
All 30 crew were lost when the vessel hit a mine off Orford Ness, Suffolk.
