Because of the commonality of the surname, it has been difficult to ascertain proven facts about George and his family.
It is believed that he may have been the eldest of 8 siblings born to Jeremiah Hatcher and Pippa Brown, both of Blything in Suffolk, but that is open to question.
It is reasonably certain that George married Augusta Kimber in Southampton in 1896.
Augusta had been born in Totton in 1872 and she passed away in the city in 1932.
Records show that the couple had 4 children, although one must have died young as records can only be found of three siblings.
The family lived at 21 Oxford Street, Shirley.

Alma G. A. b. 1900 Shirley d. ?? Married Albert E. Bramble in Portsmouth in 1931.
Reginald b. 1903 Shirley d. ??
Details of what happened to George are sketchy. It is almost certain that he died independently of any action that the Trent may have been involved in off Italy, because it survived the war relatively unscathed.
Some records show that George was “accidentally killed” although any greater detail is not available.
