Frank was the youngest of 7 siblings born to Henry and Sarah Allen (nee Hopgood), who married in Southampton in 1874.

 

Both parents were born in Southampton in 1854; Sarah passed away in the city in 1905 with Henry following in 1912.

The 2nd Brigade was originally formed with the 21st, 42nd and 53rd Batteries and was attached to the 6th Infantry Division for the whole war.

 

The brigade arrived in France with the B.E.F on 10 September 1914, landing at St. Nazaire.

 

Frank probably perished after being wounded in the last days of the Battle of the Lys.
