Charles was the youngest of 6 siblings born to Joseph and Mary Jane Green.

Joseph was born in Wallingford in 1836 and Mary in Southampton in 1851. There is no proof of them marrying or of when either passed away (Mary was alive at the 1911 Census).

Amy Jane   b. 1877 Freemantle d. ??

Lillian Priscilla   b. 1879 Sandown   d. 1973 Southampton   Married Ernest Edward Emery in Southampton in 1902. The couple had 5 children, 3 of whom died in infancy.

Charles married Nellie Elizabeth Kirk in Southampton in 1907, and records suggest that they had one child….

Ada Louisa Florence   b. 27 May 1908   d. 1991 Romsey

Nellie was born in Broughton in 1885 and she passed away in Southampton in 1956.

Facts about Charles’ battalion are thin on the ground, but they arrived at Boulogne on 9 March 1916.

Charles actually died in Sparrow Hall Hospital in Liverpool. This suggests his battalion was used in Germany after the Armistice and that he may have been taken ill when in Germany.
